I translated a George Bush quotation from English to Dutch to Slovak to Spanish then back to English with the Google language translator. I started with this quotation:
We're fixing to go down to Galveston and obviously are going to see a devastated part of this fantastic state (English)
And ended with this sentence:
Galveston was devastated that we are going to a course that I will take care of a large part of this state
Many pieces of the sentence were altered, thus causing a change in meaning. For example, the original quotation showed "We" as being the subject. The translated sentence has "Galvaston" as the subject. Some of the meanings of words themselves were lost in translation it seems, such as "fantastic," which I'm assuming at some point became "large" in the translated version.
